Our Founders - Mario Barra

Mario was one of Vates S.A.’s founders in 1991 and is currently its President. He has acted as sponsor in all the company's CMMI assessments. This has allowed VATES S.A. to be positioned in the market as the first national software company in the country to certify CMMI Level 5, the highest standard in the industry.

His work experience started as Senior Systems Analyst in the IT Direction of the Public Function and Administrative Reform Subsecretary. Later on, he acted as the Development Head of the IT Direction of the Judicial Power of the Province of Cordoba. Director of KANAV S.A., company dedicated to software for Software Factory Management.

Furthermore, Mario is President of the Cluster Córdoba Technology since 2007 and professor at the National Technological University since 1993. He participated in the founding committee of the Instituto Tecnológico Córdoba and currently is member of its Board of Directors. He is also member of Cessi’s Executive Committee. At Fundación Uvitec, made up of the Industrial Union of Cordoba, the Foreign Trade Chamber of Cordoba, and Cordoba Stock Exchange, he is member of the Board of Directors. He is also member of the Board of the organization Endeavor Córdoba.

He was awarded by the newspaper La Voz del Interior as Businessman of the Year 2007. His work has been reflected in some publications such as: “Construction of the essential model”, used by 3rd year Information Systems Engineering students. Author of different articles, including “Database Engines”, edited by the magazine of the Consejo Profesional de Informática (Professional Association of IT workers). Author of the article: “Decision-Support Systems for the Government”, in the book “The Reason of State” edited by the Consejo Profesional.

Mario obtained the gold medal for the best average of his class in the Information Systems Engineering major, from the National Technological University – Cordoba Regional School.
