Seminar on IT and Internet business

As the closing event of the 2009 programme, the Embassy and the British Argentine Chamber of Commerce hosted the seminar “IT and Internet Business in Argentina. New Projects and Investments” on 4 December, at the Official Residence.

Keynote speaker Dr Fernando Sedano, Manager of the National Agency for Investment Development ProsperAr, made an exhaustive presentation about the factors that have turned the IT and Internet business into one of the most dynamic sectors of the Argentine economy in recent years, stressing its importance as a growing source of exports of goods and services as well as a target for foreign investment.

Mr David Hyman, Associate Manager of Google Argentina, took part in the event via web link from Buenos Aires with a presentation on the experience of aglobal company based in Argentina.

Mr Ricardo Moral, Globant’s Engineering Vice President for Europe, covered the experience of the international expansion of an Argentine software company.

Mr Lucas Lezcano Velez, CEO of Pasajesencasa.com, referred to the setting up of a new Internet business on transport services from the UK to serve Argentina and the region.

And Mr Diego Schmira, Business Development Manager of VATES, presented the experience of a software engineering company from Argentina entering the global market.
