Process Improvement in Vates
We are a Software Engineering Process Group (SEPG) made up of the
leading resources of the Software Quality and Project Development Areas of
our company.
We manage the process improvement project and certification with the
same practices we use for a software development project. We follow the
ideal model proposed by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) for process improvement. We establish
change management strategies that reduce risks inherent to the
improvement process and favor its implementation in all the organization’s
levels.
We were officially assessed by the SEI and obtained CMMI Level 5.
The achievement of this quality certification has enabled our company to
increase our introduction to external markets and position ourselves in the
internal markets. Furthermore, we increased our productivity and
efficiency, reducing software development rework costs.
Designing and implementing processes for software development projects of
different scopes, multiple technologies, platforms and paradigms has
contributed to the fact that we have a process adaptable to different types
of projects and that gives our team experience in how to implement the
best management and software engineering practices for a great variety of
technologies.
“Continuous Improvement of Software Processes”
We work in process improvement with the IDEAL (Continuous Improvement Process Model) model. IDEAL is a model created by the SEI to guide the initiation, planning and implementation of improvement initiatives for the organization’s software process.
The IDEAL model provides a disciplined engineering approach for the software improvement process. It focuses on the improvement program management and establishes the foundation for a long-term strategy. The model has five phases, made up of activities:
